Access
Control Systems

Access Control means to control the movement / flow of people in a particular premise or location during a particular point of time. The person entering could be an employee, a contractor or a visitor and they may be driving a vehicle, travel by foot. The locations could be anywhere like a building entrance, meeting room or restricted areas/ floors.

We tend to call this as a physical access control system to differentiate it from other access control like logging on to computer systems, website etc using login and password credentials.

When we talk about a physical access control system, we’re usually referring to an electronic security system. They typically use an identifier such as an access card to authorise people to enter certain areas. These systems are capable of logging who accessed where and when, they can provide valuable data to help you track how your buildings and sites are being used.

Why Do you need an Access Control system?

Beyond the obvious reason, physical security, there are several reasons a business or medical facility might need an access control system

  • Compliance
  • IP Data

Businesses that deal with privileged data and intellectual property, such as software developers, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and companies need to not only control who comes into their facilities, but which areas they are allowed to access. These also have to adhere and provide compliance to their global security policies thereby avoiding security breach.
